Happiness is an apropos quote.

I don’t have one particular quote or mantra that informs my life. I’m a well of words, a consequence of a lifetime spent deep in books, but they swim about most chaotically, and I’m not the best at dropping the appropriate bot mot at the most effective time. I’m more about l’esprit de l’escalier.

I could carry about one of my many quotation collection books, but repartee isn’t as witty as one would like if you’re having to call for reference-search time-outs.

Perhaps I should make up some cards? Get an assortment done, create a deck of sympathetic snippets?

I do love a good Vista print.

The World Is Too Much With Us, by William Wordsworth
“The world is too much with us, late and soon” floats about my head often.

The Summer Day, by Mary Oliver
I find this bit of the poem excellent at providing a metaphoric kick in the pants if I’m wallowing.

Ozymandias, by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
This poem reminds me that life is fleeting, even for the worst of us.

And Still I Rise, by Maya Angelou
I’ve not had the easiest life.
A reminder to keep getting up is helpful, at times.
