i see you

i see you.

i see your face and the muscles of your jaw,

and the way your teeth sit loosely in your gums,

too big for your face.

i see your eyes,

and that odd combination of emptiness and pain.

i see the expressions that cross your face

when you think nobody’s watching.

i see the jutting collarbones

and the tendons outlining your furred forearms;

i see your ribs pushing angrily at the covering skin,

and the light shining through your thighs.

like speaks to like.

we are of a type, you and i.

i see you, even while we both remain unseen.

I like writing. Words help me unpack my thoughts so that things start to make sense. Once I have both myself and the universe figured out, I plan to take up macrame. "Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing, and learn as you go." E. L. Doctorow
